GHT Homepage Inside GHT Announcements Manchester Pride - Thank You
3rd Sep 2007
A big thank you to all the volunteers and service users who came out to support George House Trust over the Manchester Pride weekend. Overall it it was a fantastic event. We successfully operated the wrist band exchange on Friday and Saturday confidently dealing with the friendly and excited crowds. It was all mouths to the deck as we staged a superb noisy campaigning entry in the Parade. HIV No Shame, No Blame, No Crime echoed around the city centre as both people on the float and those walking engaged with the parade crowds. It truley was a remarkable occassion. Throughout the weekend the George House Trust stall was very busy getting people to sign up to the campaign pledge to end the discrimination and prejudice faced by people livign with HIV. Volunteers also gave out services information as well as raising money through a raffle. The weekend ended with the George House Trust HIV candle lit vigil. Over 3,000 people came to hear some very moving songs, poems and personal testaments. Volunteers not only prepared the park and sold candles but also ensured that the park was made safe at the end.
To everybody who helped, who came out to support us, who tunred up to an event, a very, very big thank you.
