GHT Homepage Inside GHT Announcements Positive Results: GHT Volunteer Survey 2008
31st Mar 2008
A huge thank you to those volunteers, who took part in our questionnaire survey and focus group.
The questionnaire, based on Volunteering England’s Impact Assessment Toolkit, was to assess the impact of volunteering at George House Trust on volunteers themselves.
Findings were overwhelmingly positive, with 98% of volunteers indicating that they would recommend volunteering at George House Trust to others and over 85% reported being satisfied with the induction, training and support they receive.
Volunteers also reported increases in personal development, access to contacts and networks, acceptance and understanding of others’ cultures and communities and an ability to challenge stigma about HIV. 58% of respondents said that volunteering had increased their skills base and over a third said it had increased their ability to get paid work.
Volunteers valued the support and sense of belonging at George House Trust, the opportunity to give something back and the training and information they received about HIV.
what next?
Findings from the survey will feed into future development of the volunteer programme at George House Trust. Planned activities for the coming year include:
• an expanded training and skills development calendar
• redevelopment of the volunteer section of the website
• more social opportunities for volunteers.
The volunteer survey will be annual and we also always welcome feedback, comments and suggestions from volunteers throughout the year.
