George House Trust celebrates its 20th Anniversary this year. We aim to promote the best quality of life for people with or affected by HIV in the North West. We currently support almost 1700 people. Due to the rapidly rising numbers of people with HIV, we’re looking for two highly committed and skilled people to join our Manchester-based organisation:
1 x Adviser
35 hours per week. Scale 6 – SO1 £20,295 – £24,000 (plus 6% pension)
This post will be responsible for delivering advice, advocacy and support to our service users both within our office base and in clinical and other community settings. You will need a good understanding of HIV and an awareness of current issues related to it. You must have at least two year’s experience of working with people with complex needs, for example relating to asylum and immigration, sexuality, HIV status, housing, mental health, drugs and alcohol, disabilities and health issues. You must also be committed to tackling stigma and discrimination.

Following a successful bid to the Big Lottery Fund, we are about to expand our current services to African people with or affected by HIV. We wish to recruit an Adviser with specialist knowledge of African communities. The post will be responsible for delivering advice, advocacy and support to our service users both within our office base and in clinical and other community settings. You will need a good understanding of HIV and an awareness of current issues related to it. You must have at least two year’s experience of working with people with complex needs, and an excellent understanding of asylum and immigration. In addition you should have an understanding of issues relating to sexuality, HIV status, housing, mental health, drugs and alcohol, disabilities and health issues. You must also be committed to tackling stigma and discrimination.
